Elena L. Chappa, 82, of Mereta, passed away quietly on Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, surrounded by her family

A Rosary will be read at the "Remembrance Chapel" at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels/North on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in Mereta, Tx. with Fr. Tom Barley officiating. Interment will follow in the Eola-Mereta Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to the Gutierrez family.

Mrs. Chappa was born in Caldwell County on March 10, 1924. Survivors include her husband, Agapito Chappa Sr.; three sons, Manuel Chappa, Frank Chappa and Agapito Chappa, Jr., ; seven daughters, Raffy Chappa, Becky Cuellar, Mary Chappa, Nancy Cuellar, Alicia Rodriguez, Rosa Flores and Julie Hernandez.

Also surviving are 24 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Frank Chappa Jr., Michael Cuellar Jr., Anthony Chappa, Israel Duarte Jr., David Cuellar Jr., Martin Rodriguez, Rudy Flores and Henry Garza.

The family would like to thank Tina Chappa Garza, a granddaughter, for the care given to Mrs. Chappa.
