Maria de la Luz Casillas

Maria de la Luz (Mary) Casillas went peacefully to be with the Lord on April 6, 2018. Mom was born June 8, 1930 to Sabino and Manuela Sanchez in Del Rio, Tx. Mom was a wonderful loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. Her life was filled with love, compassion and laughter. Mom enjoyed reading, listening to classical music and working her puzzles. She also loved her cats, especially "cookie" and "lulu". Mom also enjoyed giving to charities and help feed the hungry.  Mom is preceded in death by her husband, Manuel O. Casillas, parents, Sabino and Manuela Sanchez, sister, Conchita Esquivel, and grandson, baby Glenn Johnson.  Survivors include her daughter, Angie C. Johnson, son, Oscar Casillas Jr and wife Melissa. Sister, Hilda Linden, brother, Juan Sanchez, grandchildren, William Derek Johnson, Chelsea Nguyen, great grandchildren, London and Alexa Nguyen.
Viewing will be held at Gutierrez Funeral Home, 1102 Knickerbocker Rd, April 10, 2018 from 4:00-9:00, Rosary at 7:00pm. Our final farewell will be April 11, 2018 at 10:00 am, graveside service will follow promptly at 11:00 am, Lawnhaven Cemetery.  The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Shannon 4th floor north staff, especially, Nurse  Jill and Nurse Grace and to the beautiful ladies that took care of mom in her last hour. Also, to family and to friends for their prayers and comfort.
