Adelina G. Garza

Adelina G. Garza, beloved mother to Marcelo, Frank, and Melanie, departed this life on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, in Sterling City, Texas, leaving a void her family cannot fill.

Adelina was born in Lyford, Texas on September 23, 1942, to Marcelo Gonzales and Catarina Sotelo Gonzales.  She was a certified nurse’s aide and was employed for decades at local nursing homes. Adelina was a compassionate soul who dedicated her life to healing and caring for others.  She was not just a caregiver, she was a beacon of hope for those in pain, a source of comfort for the distressed and a friend to the lonely.  Adelina’s heart was a reservoir of boundless love, she showed her family that kindness and empathy could heal wounds that medicine alone could not reach.  Adelina lived a life of purpose, dedicating herself to the service of others, always with a smile on her face and always a gentle word of reassurance. 

Adelina was a devoted mother to Marcelo Garza, Frank Garza and wife, Tina Garza and Melanie Garza, as well as a grandmother to Marina Garza, Kenneth Garza, Nicholas Garza, and was blessed with her great grandchildren, Marcelina Garza, Jacob William Prieto, Elena Prieto and Michael Andrew Garza.  Adelina will be fondly remembered by her sister, Angelica Mandujano.

Adelina is best known to all as a talented crocheter, crafting beautiful pieces that brought warmth and comfort to her family. “Novelas” were her second special interest in her spare moments.
