Candace DeMent

Candace "Candy" Shawn DeMent entered into her eternal rest on Tuesday, March 19th, 2024, at Shannon West Memorial Hospital. Born Candace Lavern Shawn on February 15th, 1953, in San Angelo, she was the third and youngest child of Rodney "Bud" Shawn and Mildred Shawn (neè Posey.) She was predeceased by her siblings Virginia Marshall (nee` Shawn) of Pasadena, Texas and Rodney Shawn of Falls Church, Virginia. Candace grew up in San Angelo, graduating from Central High School in 1971 and then attending Angelo State. Over the years, she worked for businesses such as SACE, Crest Packaging, attorneys Pat Hall and Tip Hargrove, GA Auto Glass, and the Court Residential Treatment Center. No matter where Candace traveled or visited over the years, San Angelo was her true home in her heart. She enjoyed reading, birdwatching, nature, coffee, and Wheel Of Fortune. She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Jefferson (neè DeMent) of Huntsville, Tennessee, her son, John DeMent of Dallas, Texas, grandsons Burke Butler of Twentynine Palms, California, and Tanner Jefferson of Huntsville, Tennessee, and granddaughter Kynzie DeMent of Richardson, Texas.
