Devoted father, and grandfather, Carlos Rodriguez, Sr.” Chale” passed into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father, on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, in San Angelo, Texas. Carlos was born to the Rev. Gilberto Rodriguez and Amparo Rodriguez on July 28, 1946, in San Angelo, Texas.
Carlos rejoins his loved ones, his parents, Rev. Gilberto Rodriguez and Amparo Rodriguez, brothers, Samuel Rodriguez, Gilberto Rodriguez, Jr., David Rodriguez and sister, Ruth Gonzales.
Carlos was employed for over 25 years and retired from at HEB in the produce department and was lovingly referred to as the “Godfather of Produce”.
Beyond his many years of service to HEB in the produce department, Carlos’ love in life was playing pool. Carlos could do things in pool that many could not. He had one of the best strokes in the game and the hardest breaks. He was celebrated for his exceptional fundamentals and unmatched cue ball control. Many have said how he was a monster when he played pool.
If he wasn't talking pool or playing pool, Carlos was a joy-spreader - he was known for his sense of humor and his corny jokes. Dad’s jokes might have been cheesy, but they always lifted our spirits. Losing a father is never easy, but through all the laughter, Dad taught us the importance of family, love, and never taking life too seriously.
Carlos leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his children, Carlos Rodriguez, Jr., Vanessa Rodriguez, and April Phillips. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Ashley Butler Isaac Perez, Jacob Hernandez, Anessa Cortez, Daniel Nuncio, Zaidyn Pena, Nehemiah and Genesis Trejo. Carlos is also survived by three (3) great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Carlos will also be fondly remembered by his siblings, Eden Rodriguez, Omar Rodriguez, Magda Romero, Febe Benitez and Omega Escandon.
Carlos’ spirit was infectious, his heart was generous, and his creativity was unmatched. Rest in peace, dad, and may your afterlife be filled with laughter and a pool table.
