Criselda Gatica Mares

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Criselda Gatica Mares on March 25, 2025, at the age of 62. Criselda was born on September 13, 1962, to Dionicio and Elpidia Mares, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who will be profoundly missed by her family and all who knew her. 

Criselda was preceded in death by her cherished brothers, Luis Antonio Mares and Mario Mares, as well as her nephew, Luis Antonio Mares Jr. She leaves behind her sister-in-law, Mary Mares, along with a loving family that includes her nephews Mario Antonio Mares (Consuelo) and Gabriel Mares (Sara), and her niece Megan Mares. Criselda is also survived by her great-nieces and great-nephews: Isis Hernandez, Gianni Mares, Domani Mares, Delila Mares, Maleeah Mares, Alina Mares, Erika Mares Aguirre (John), and Talia Mares. 

She had a special place in her heart for her two cats, Mark and Luke, who brought her endless comfort and companionship. Criselda was also deeply passionate about researching her family’s ancestry, always eager to uncover new details about her heritage and preserve the history of her loved ones.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.

Criselda’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family, and she will be missed dearly by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness, love, and curiosity about the world will never be forgotten.
