Daniel Devereaux Obituary

Our caring, loving, and generous son, brother, uncle, and friend, Daniel Marcos Devereaux, age 54, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024. in Charlotte, North Carolina. After a lengthy health battle, Daniel succumbed to cancer. Daniel was born on March 24, 1970, in Austin, Texas, first son to Neil and Sandra Devereaux. He grew-up and lived his first 18 years in San Angelo, Tx, attending Travis Elementary, Glenn Jr. High and graduated in May 1988 from Central High. Throughout his school years, especially at Central, he excelled in various subjects, Spanish, math, science, and English. At an early age, he won numerous awards in writing. He played soccer at Central. He excelled in playing the baritone in the Central marching band. But we all know his genuine love was playing the guitar and sharing his music with others. Daniel played the guitar and sang in various groups in San Angelo and in other places he called home. Since his college days, Daniel loved supporting others who shared his love of music by attending concerts of lesser-known guitar players and singers. Daniel served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for two years in Venezuela. He attended UT Austin under a scholarship and later received his degree in Communications from Angelo State University. Daniel started his reporting and cameraman career in various TV stations in El Paso, Texas, and would later work at ESPN and CNN. He became a technician in Atlanta, Denver, Phoenix and in Charlotte, N.C. where his co-workers commented on his expertise as a technician, engineer, and producer. Among his many talents and contributions, he was an avid fan of various pro sports, including football, basketball, and soccer. His card collections included 100s of sport cards, and he became an expert on the Dallas Cowboys. In these past few years, his stand-up comedy routines became professional. Daniel was able to perform comedy and do complex technical work not only in English but in Spanish! Left to embrace his memory are his parents Dr. and Mrs. Neil Devereaux, his brothers, David and Ruben and his sister, Dr. Cristina D. Ramirez, his uncle, Paul Devereaux and his aunt Dr. Norma Hernandez and his nephews, Li and James Devereaux and nieces Marren, Sophia and Seva Devereaux, including numerous cousins and friends.
