Diana Cantu Obituary

Diana Zapata Cantu, lovingly known to all of us as "Denni," made her way to her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2024, at the young age of 58. She was born in San Angelo, Texas, on March 21, 1966. Denni worked at the San Angelo State School for 28 years where she cared for the most vulnerable members of our community, a job she loved with all her heart. She retired from the State School, having made a lasting impact on those she served and worked alongside. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Ralph Cantu, her parents, Demetrio and Antonia Zapata, and her brother, David Zapata. We can only imagine she’s already filling heaven with her laughter and keeping everyone entertained.

Denni leaves behind her greatest joy, her daughter Arianna Cantu, who was the light of her life. She is also survived by her dear sisters: Lupe Rangel and husband Art, Yolanda Garza and husband Marciano, and Mary Ellen Zapata, along with a loving group of nieces and nephews whom she cherished as her own: Dolly Zapata, David Zapata, Marciano Garza III and wife Tomi, Andree Jackson and husband Bevie, Luigi Gallicchio and wife Chloe, Bianca Terrazas and husband Michael, Angelica Sandel and husband Sean, Jacob Rangel and wife Jacy, and Michael Garza. Her legacy of love continues in her great-nieces and nephews: Natalie Powers, Jasmine Booker, Tres Zapata, Noah, Ian, Esai, and Lyla Garza, Astrid, Cora, and Cosimo, Christian Terrazas, Alexis Gerhardt, Romeo Serrano, Jayden, and Jaxton Rangel, who will always carry her in their hearts.

Denni had a magical way of making everyone feel special. She could walk into any room and fill it with laughter, leaving everyone feeling lighter and brighter. Her stories were pure magic—each one made you feel like you were living it right alongside her. Though she’s now in heaven, her sparkle, her warmth, and her boundless love will live on in all of us who were blessed to know her.

In honor of Denni, we are wearing her favorite color—bright pink, just like her radiant spirit.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to those who cared for Denni medically over the years, helping her live with love and dignity.

May the fabulous pink lady rest peacefully in her heavenly home.

We love you always and forever.
