Don (Papo) Chavez, 76, passed away surrounded by his loving family, Friday February 18, 2022. Don was born to Fidel Chavez and Ramona Montoya on March 17, 1945, in Raton, New Mexico. He bravely served his country in the US Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran. After his military service, he made a career in Telecommunications, working at GTE and Verizon Communications and where he worked internationally. After retirement, he pursued a dream of owning a family business, and opened DK&S Motors. Don was a hardworking man, and never complained no matter how tired he may have been. He never met a stranger and lit up every room he was in. He brought so much love and joy to everyone’s lives. He was the most generous and compassionate man, and we were so fortunate to have had the time we had with him. He was a wonderful husband, dedicated dad, and the best Papo the kids could have ever had. Don’s kids and grandkids were the light of his life, and he was their world. Don is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Madeline Chavez, his kids, Donna Chavez, Dennis Chavez, Sontos Chavez, and his doodle bug, Krystle Espinoza, along with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Kourtney Chavez, Elisia Valencia, Miguel Valencia, Kameron Chavez, Xavier Espinoza, Ayla Espinoza, Scarlett Chavez, Dominick Gomez, Nyellie Quintana, Zavian Gomez, Reyna Quintana, his four sisters and his brother. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Assembly of God Evangel Temple, located at 201 N Campus Blvd, San Angelo, Tx 76901 at 10 am.
