Elvira Herrera

The family of Elvira Mendoza Herrera, age 85, of San Angelo, Texas is saddened to announce her passing on Sunday, November 7, 2021, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Elvira was born in San Angelo, Texas on December 26, 1935, to Santana Mendoza and Trinidad Rodriguez Mendoza.

She was preceded in death by her mother Trinidad Mendoza and father Santana Mendoza, her sons Armando Salas and Felix Salas, and her daughters Sylvia Mendoza and Hope Mendoza, her great grandson Felix Salas III, and her great-granddaughter Sierra Cazarez.

She is survived by her husband Marcelino Herrera of San Angelo, daughter Gloria Mendoza of San Angelo, daughter Martha Outland and her husband Mark Outland of Wichita Falls, Texas, her son, Michael Mendoza of San Angelo, granddaughters Heather Renteria of San Angelo, Leslie Clark and her husband Charlie Clark of San Angelo, Scheryl Cazarez of Lawton, Oklahoma, Catherine Goode of Janesville Wisconsin, John Paul Salas of San Angelo, 8 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. 

She was a loving mother, wife, sister, and friend. Her home was always open to anyone that needed a place to stay. She was a devout Catholic and a member of the Cathedral Church of the Sacred Heart in San Angelo, Texas. Her faith in Our Lord and Savior never failed especially on the day when the Lord called her to His Kingdom.  Elvira loved her family everyday of her life and she was a friend to anyone in need. Elvira will be greatly missed every day.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation that will occur on Thursday, November 11, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels/North, 1002 North Oakes, San Angelo, Texas with a Funeral Service on Friday, November 12, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels/North, 1002 North Oakes, San Angelo, Texas with interment to follow at Belvedere Memorial Park, 3504 Arden Road, San Angelo, Texas.
