On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, Eric Thomas Samaniego, known to all as “Kiko”, passed away in his home in San Angelo, Texas. Eric was born on March 15, 1984, to Rose Samaniego Vijil. He was the middle child of three, but also a twin. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Guadalupe and Juan Samaniego, and two uncles, Alex and Jesse Samaniego. He is survived by his mother, Rose Samaniego Vijil and Steve Zuniga, his twin brother Johnpaul Samaniego, sister Guadalupe Rodriguez, also known as “Sis”, stepsister and stepbrother, his nephews, whom he adored so very much, Zay, Gabriel, and Baby Eli, his Uncle Johnny Samaniego, a very special cousin, Jesse Joe Rodriguez, and a very dear friend, Daniel Casillas. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends also survive him.
Eric graduated from Lakeview High School in 2002 and was a member of the JROTC, where he received numerous pins and awards in his position. His passion was playing for the San Angelo Billiard Association as a pool player, which allowed him to play in numerous leagues all around town and even led him to play in Las Vegas. During this time, he met many friends who he considered family. Eric played for many different teams, including his second home, Giz & Hums, where he spent much of his time. He was also a member of the West Texas Washer Pitching Community and played on a team called West Texas Jokers.
Eric adored all his friends who came across him and loved them as if they were his own family. His smile and laugh were so contagious, and his hug was always welcoming. If you ever came across him, you would feel love. He was a loving and caring person who would open his door to anyone and give you the shirt off his back.
Kiko was a die-hard Kansas City fan; in his honor, we ask that you wear Kansas City Chiefs colors. Thank you to all family and friends, and the community, who have contributed in any way.
The family will receive friends at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 3:00 pm till 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 3:00 pm till 8:30 p.m. with a Funeral Service at 6:30 p.m.
