Esmeralda Backlund

Esmeralda Backlund, 71, of San Angelo, passed away on April 21, 2023 in San Angelo, Texas surrounded by her family. 

Esmeralda was a longtime employee of Ethicon, Inc. and loved her crocheting, sewing and cooking for the family.  She loved the impromptu "week-end" rides with her husband. 

She leaves to mourn her death, her beloved husband, Brian Backlund and three daughters, Rachel Buck and husband Nicholas Buck, Sara Backlund and Daniel Minor and Angela Mathis and husband Toby Mathis.  Other survivors include her brother, Ignacio Luna and sisters, Anselma Arambula and Sylvia Reyes Rodriguez; grandchildren, Gabriel Backlund, Chase Backlund, Drake Boyer, Madison Merfeld, Olivia Buck, Marabelle Buck, Odette Minor and Harper Mathis.  She is preceded in death by her brother Anacleto Reyes. 

Private services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Gutierrez Funeral Chapels.
