Estevan Vasquez, Sr.

Estevan Vasquez, age 84, of San Angelo, went to be with the Lord September 9, 2021.  He was born on August 3, 1937 in Edinburgh, Texas. Estevan married the love of his life, Dolores Garza July 1, 1961, they lived around the Lubbock area where Estevan worked as a farm hand. He worked for Southland ISD for a period of time and went on to manage his own business, "Vasquez Grocery" in Southland. Finally, he moved to San Angelo to live out his days along side his loving wife and family. Estevan's interests and talents were fostered throughout his life, including farming and woodworking. In his later years, he loved sitting on the porch, praying his rosary, appreciating nature, and bird watching. Estevan was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and a Curcillista.  Estevan was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa, brother, and friend. He was a hard working man with amazing talents in woodworking, and an all around handyman. He will forever be remembered as a respectful, kind, caring, loving, and humble man who liked to keep things simple.

Estevan is preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years,  Dolores Vasquez, his parents Apolonio Vasquez and Delphina Solice Vasquez, four brothers, and one sister.  Survivors include: Their three children: Maria Mendez, Estevan Vasquez Jr., and Maricela Regino.  Their grandchildren: Jay and Isabel Mendez, Erik and Ruben Maldonado, and Araceli Regino.  Their great grandchildren: Alyssa and Jacob Mendez, Piper Peach, Nolan Molina, Lorelei and Hudson Maldonado, and his sister: Amelia Vasquez.  The Rosary will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels located at 1102 Knickerbocker Rd, San Angelo, TX 76903.  The viewing will be held Sunday, September, 12, 2021 from 5 - 8 p.m. at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels located at 1002 N Oakes St, San Angelo, TX 76903.  For the day of burial, Monday, September 13, 2021, services will begin at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels located at 1002 N Oakes St, San Angelo, TX 76903 at 9:15 a.m. From there, the procession will lead to the celebration of Holy Mass.  The Mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 13, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church located at 7 W Ave N, San Angelo, TX 76903. Holy Mass will be led by celebrant, Fr. Reggie Odima.
