Francisca Vera Obituary

Francisca G. Vera, age 78, of Mereta, Texas was released from this life and entered eternal peace on Friday, April 29, 2022. Francisca was born on September 28, 1942, to Gonzalo Gomez Guerrero and Josephina Sotelo Avalos.

She was preceded in death by her late husband Juan Vera, parents Gonzalo Gomez and Josefina Sotelo Avalos, brothers Augustin Ramirez Sotelo, and Celestino Ramirez Sotelo.  Survivors include her beloved son Mauricio Vera and wife Maria Consuelo, five granddaughters Isabel, Elizabeth, Aliyah, Miranda, and Jasmine all of Mereta, siblings Rafael Gomez, Juan Gomez, Ipolita Gomez, Antonio Gomez Landeros, Carmen Ramirez Sotelo, Estela Gomez Ayala, Socorro Gomez Ayala, and Altagracia Gomez.

Francisca was always a loving wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt, cousin and friend "Comadre" to all that knew her. She married and had her only son Mauricio, who was her most treasured accomplishment. She raised him into a great family man and dreamed of the day she would become an "Abuelita." Isabel Victoria Vera was the first to give her that honor. So, when that day came, she carried the "Abuelita" name with great pride. Elizabeth Danielle Vera, Aliyah Melany Vera, Miranda Yvonne Vera, and Jasmine Mia Vera followed in the years to come. She was always so willing to help take care of her five precious granddaughters and always had a special glow when speaking of them. Even when her health did not allow her to be fully active in their activities, she was sure to ask how Chave's (Isabel) nursing school was going? If Eli (Elizabeth) was ready for graduation? When and where was Aliyah and Miranda's next softball tournament?  Or if we had a video of Jasmine's latest baseball game? She also enjoyed being outdoors, either watering her flowers, or helping her son Mauricio in the garden, planting and chopping the weeds.

She enjoyed watching her telenovelas and talking with her family and friends on the telephone. She loved spending time with her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all.  She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Mereta and also helped many years at the annual St. Ambrose/Holy Family Fall Festival.  Francisca was deeply faithful in her everyday life. The family wishes to thank Angelo Kidney Connection, Encompass Home Health, Dr. Cesar Franco-Rodriguez and staff, and countless friends.
