Herminia “Minnie” Flores Mojica, beloved mother and grandmother went to be with her Lord at the age of 95 on February 10, 2022. Minnie was born February 13, 1926, in Rotan, Texas to Guillermo “Willie” Flores and Isabelle Gonzales Flores.
At a young age, Minnie’s mother passed away leaving her to help her father raise her three younger brothers.
Mom loved her Lord and was a devout Catholic all her life. As a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in San Angelo, Texas, Minnie served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, a Lector and church choir member. Minnie assisted in the preparation of meals for church functions and cleaning the church, she enjoyed hosting Bible studies in her home as well deepening her spiritual life through gifts of prayer and sacrifice in the name of Christ by completing her Cursillo to become a Cursillista.
Minnie was employed by Ethicon, Inc. in San Angelo, Texas for many years, a job she loved and where she made many lifelong friends.
Mom was the “Rock” for nine children, and despite her large family, Mom always made time for each of her children. She provided support and love for her family.
Minnie is survived by her three sons, Joe Arzate, Danny Diaz (Argelia) and Julian Diaz (Oneida), five daughters, Eva Medrano, Anita Lopez (Joe), Isabel Jones (William), Christine Martinez and Irma Aguilar. Minnie is also survived by 33 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Preceding Minnie in death are her parents, Guillermo and Isabelle Flores, her beloved son, Samuel F. Diaz, a stepmother, Berna Flores, brothers, Willie Flores, Pete Flores and Daniel Flores, her sons-in-law, Jesse Medrano and Vicente Martinez, Jr., a daughter in law, Paulette Arzate and three great grandchildren, as well as her longtime spouse and companion, Jesus Mojica.
The family expresses their gratitude to Regency House, their staff and especially her nurse, Susan for the exceptional care extended to Minnie for the past four years and Kindred Hospice for making her last days as comfortable as possible.
A Rosary and Wake service will be held Sunday, February 13, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels, 1002 North Oakes, San Angelo, Texas
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Ismael Velazco Ornelas, MSP, on Monday, February 14, 2022, at 100 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 301 West 17th Street, San Angelo, Texas. A committal service will follow at Fairmont Cemetery, 1100 West Ave. “N”, San Angelo, Texas.
“We beseech thee, O Lord, in thy mercy, to have pity on the soul of thy handmaid; do thou, who hast freed her from the perils of this mortal life, restore to her the portion of everlasting salvation. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.”
