Hortencia Ledezma, 91 years young entered the gates of heaven on Monday, May 20, 2024, surrounded by her family. Hortencia was born to Matilde and Carmen Garcia on August 4, 1932, in San Angelo, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Raul Ledezma, her first born son, Richard Nunez, grand-son, Mario (Chachi) Rios, granddaughter, Carmen Villarreal, great grandson Carlos Nunez, son-in-law, Mario Rios, as well as her parents. Hortencia is the last of her 9 siblings to enter the gates of heaven.
Hortencia will be forever loved and remembered by her children: Abel Nunez and wife Sally, Gloria Rios, Liz Villarreal, Rita and husband Joe Rios, Clyde and wife Felipa Nunez, Oscar Nunez, and Veronica Ledezma. She is the proud grandmother to her grandchildren, Ricky and Joey Nunez, Michael Rios, John and Justin Nunez, Armando, Mandy, Tillie Villarreal, Jose (Cochi), Michelle, Jeremiah Rios, Marissa, Gabby Ledezma and Allie Garza, Roxanne and Zoe Nunez.
Hortencia is also survived by 24 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. She will be missed by her beloved furry companions, Pecas and NiNi
We will miss Hortencia and will cherish forever her strength and courage as well as her unfailing love. We know by our faith that she is united with her parents, her husband, and her family members.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 27, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels, 1002 North Oakes, San Angelo, Texas with the Recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Hortencia on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 7 West Ave. “N”, San Angelo, Texas 76903. The Rite of Committal for Hortencia will then take place at Belvedere Memorial Park, 3504 Arden Road, San Angelo, Texas, 76901.
Hortencia will be accompanied to her final resting place by John Nunez, Justin Nunez, Michael Rios, Mandy Villarreal, Gabby Ledezma, Jose Rios, Zoe Nunez, and Ricky Nunez.
The Nunez family cannot thank Gentiva Hospice of San Angelo enough for their kind and compassionate care of Hortencia, especially Myra Amparano, her nurse. Thank you for your dedication to your work and to your patients.
Thank you, sister, Gloria Rios, for your unwavering support and dedication to her care - your love allowed Mom to stay in her home until the end, and that was no small thing.
