Israel will be deeply missed by those who loved him, family, friends, and all whose lives he touched with his kindness and thoughtfulness.
Israel “Ray” Duarte rode his final ride thru winding roads, beautiful mountains feeling the breeze of joy into the arms of our Heavenly Father who embraced him on February 12, 2026. He was born on February 20, 1961, in San Angelo, Texas, to Isaac and Petronila “Nila” Duarte. Ray was preceded in death by his beloved parents and his brothers, Victor Duarte, Edward Duarte, Johnny Duarte, and Bernardino (Barney) Duarte.
Ray’s memories will be cherished by his children, Israel Duarte Jr. and wife Trina, Michelle Escobar and husband David, as well as his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Isaac Duarte of Lynden, Washington, Raymond Duarte, Tony Duarte and sisters Barbara Martinez and husband Jeffery of San Angelo, Sandra Garza of San Antonio, Brenda Gamez and husband Albert of Carlsbad, and his niece, who grew up as a sister, Tonya Campbell as well as extended family.
Ray worked in construction and took great pride in the hard work he did throughout his life. In his free time, he loved to travel and especially enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He will be remembered for his strength, smile, sense of humor, and the many memories he created with those around him.
With incredible courage and determination, he fought hard and lived longer than expected, showing the same strength and resilience that defined his life. Ray’s presence will be deeply missed, but his love will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Hospice of San Angelo for the care, compassion, and support they provided during Ray’s illness.
Though he is no longer with us, we find comfort in imagining Ray back on his motorcycle, the open road ahead of him, continuing the journey and traveling in peace.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
