James Wayne McLaughlin, locally known as Wayne McLaughlin passed suddenly Wednesday March 6,2024. Wayne was born in Sonora, TX on February 14,1961 to James H. McLaughlin and Phyllis A. (Sims) McLaughlin. Wayne enjoyed spending time outdoors with his beloved dog Chigger. He loved working on cars, fishing, camping, barbecuing, and hunting. He worked as a hunting and fishing guide for several years in his youth and in the oil field for the remainder of his career. In his recent years, Wayne enjoyed gardening and visiting with family and friends. Wayne is preceded in death by his son William “Jacob” McLaughlin, Granddaughter Koda Ann Cook, parents James H. and Phyllis McLaughlin, paternal grandparents Jim and Della McLaughlin, and maternal grandparents Charles “Brown” Sims and Thelma and Frank Potmesil. Wayne is survived by his son Jeremiah J. McLaughlin, daughter Sarah McLaughlin, daughter and son-in-law Savanah and Jamie Garcia, sisters Shawna McLaughlin and Christl Coppedge, Aunt Patsy Valis, niece Cathy Covey, cousins Janet Hoelscher and Jo Ann Wengler, and his grandchildren Jeremiah J. McLaughlin Jr., Emily, Autumn, and Weston McLaughlin, Annabella Reyna, Linkoln and Waylon Garcia, Robyn Galvan, and Violet Cook. The family gives a special thank you to Waynes lifelong friends Hub, Griz, JJ, and Orlando. Words cannot express what your friendship meant to Wayne. The family will be having a memorial for Wayne at a later date.
