James Raymond Poague, II of San Angelo, Texas, was released from this life and entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. James Raymond was born on October 4, 1947, in Wiesbaden, Germany to James Raymond Poague and Evelyn Karg.
James Raymond will be fondly remembered by his siblings, Russell Poague, Eydie Poague, Eden Buckalew and Ryan Poague and fiancée, Tina Carson, as well as a nephew Taylor Buckalew. James was preceded in death by his parents, James Raymond and Evelyn Poague.
Vietnam veterans are often characterized by their resilience and toughness, shaped by their experiences during the Vietnam War, they faced intense combat situations, harsh environmental conditions, and the psychological toll of war and thus shaped James' deep commitment to service, courage, and resilience - values he carried throughout his life. James was proud to have served his country during the Vietnam war from 1968 to 1970 with an honorable discharge and continued to serve his country in the Navy Reserve and then in Army National Guard eventually retiring as a Sargeant.
A military funeral honor and committal service will take place at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 7457 West Lake Road, Abilene, Texas on Monday, May 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
