It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we must share the devastating news of the passing of our Pop, John Garcia, age 72, on Thursday, June 20, 2024, in San Angelo, Texas. We are all going to miss John's infectious spirit on this earth, but in his honor, we hope everyone can carry a little piece of that spirit with them and share it with others.
John was born in San Angelo, Texas on September 28, 1951, to Celestino C. Garcia, Sr. and Aurelia Luna Garcia and was a lifelong resident of San Angelo, Texas. John's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him through his dedication to his work as an insurance agent, his commitment to his clients, and his unwavering kindness will be remembered for years to come.
John's Defensive Driving school was his dream and passion, he had this vision, and he was able to execute it and taught defensive driving to hundreds of students in the San Angelo area over the years. We know he will be looking down on all of us forever and he will know if you’re not following all of the checklists.
John had a "larger-than-life presence" and was always there for his friends and family. Pop had a special passion for baseball, he coached Little League as well as other youth sport teams. He had a big influence on a lot of kids. Kids would gather around him, he was just a big presence and touched the lives of many young athletes, most notably through his passion, support and unmistakable quiet presence from the sidelines.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Celestino C. Garcia Sr., and Aurelia Luna Garcia, his son, John Ray Garcia, as well as two brothers, Celestino C. Garcia Jr. and David Luna Garcia.
John will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Anna Garcia and son, Sam C. Sanchez and his three grandchildren. He will also be fondly remembered by his sisters, Eva Garcia and Juanita McGrew, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to attending visiting hours on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels, 1002 North Oakes, San Angelo, Texas from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with the Recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. by Deacon Jesse Martinez.
