Jose "Joe" "Rule" Gatica

Jose P. Gatica (Rule), avid washer pitching player, loving husband to Manuela and father to Sammy Gatica, passed peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2025, in San Angelo, Texas.  Jose was born on December 28, 1935, to Natividad and Gabina Gatica.

In every role he held as a devoted husband of 69 years to his remarkable wife, Manuela, and loving father to Sammy Gatica (wife Sylvia) and legendary grandfather to his grandsons, Eddie Joe and wife, Jennifer, Sammy and wife, Michelle, Joshua and wife, Melissa, Jacob and wife, Stephanie and Orlando Gatica, he shared his wisdom, humor, and love.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sylvia and two sons, Eddie and Rudy Gatica and his parents and two sisters.

He was devoted to his great-grandsons, Zachary, Jayce, Hayden, Mason and Ethan Joe Gatica.

Jose will be remembered by his five sisters. 

A celebration of Jose’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels, 1002 North Oakes, San Angelo, Texas.

As we remember Jose (Rule), let us celebrate a life well-lived and the legacy he leaves behind. His strength, laughter, and stories will forever resonate with us.
