Josephine Marquez Obituary

Josephine “Josie” T. Marquez of San Angelo, Texas lived until the beautiful age of 89. Josie passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, March 23, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born on July 1, 1934, to Jose Tarin and Isidra Ramirez Tarin. Josie is preceded in death by her siblings: Juan Barron, Julia Treviño, Domingo Lopez, and Doroteo Tarin. Her brother, Cayetano Tarin currently resides in San Angelo, Texas. In her early life, Josie worked in the cotton fields, and later took on different roles in healthcare as a Nurse’s Aide and in Pharmacy. Her professional life and humble beginnings are reflected in her elegant, yet resourceful style. She had a very creative spirit, adding a touch of class to her wardrobe and adorned her outfits with fine jewelry. Josie enjoyed baking and always cooked a delicious meal. She loved Easter, her red “Lippie Stick” (Lipstick), and trips to the casino. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her beloved family and friends, with a warm beer. Josie’s legacy is lived on by her daughter, Anna Castillo, son-in-law Daniel Castillo, her son Eddie Marquez, daughter-in-law Rosie Marquez, and her son Salvador Marquez. Her Grandchildren, JoAnn Burney, husband Jerry Burney Jr., Christine Gomez, husband Richard Gomez, Daniel Castillo Jr., Elizabeth Castillo, Cynthia Muñiz, husband Eric Muñiz, and Robert Arguelles. Her great-grandchildren, Jerry Burney III, wife Jessica Burney, Jonathan Castillo Burney, Vincent Gomez, Julie Ann Burney, Caitlyn Gomez, and Paul Easton Leeper. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church. A graveside service will follow in Knickerbocker, TX. Viewing will be held Monday, April 1, 2024, at 3:00 PM, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Gutierrez Funeral Home. Honorable Pallbearers include Jerry Burney III, Jonathan Castillo Burney, Vincent Gomez, Jerry Lopez, Cayetano Tarin Jr., and Toby Tarin. In honor of celebrating her joyous life, the family will wear red as it was her favorite color. She will forever be cherished in our hearts.
