Karen Monreal was born June 13, 1966 to Evelyn Greenwood and Andrew Murphy in San Angelo, Tx. She graduated from Lakeview High School and was a preschool teacher for many years. She retired because of her health and was a stay at home mother and “nana” for the last 15 years. She was proceeded in death by her parents, sister Sandra Simms & Adil Strambler. She is survived by her Husband of 28 years Alberto Monreal Jr., Daughters Brandee Murphy and her boyfriend Chris, Ashley Murphy and fiancé Melodi Alvarez(Also known as Mel Boogie Baby as Kay would call her), Step daughter Tiara Monreal and Justin, Grand Children Elena Alvarez, Davian Alvarez, and an unborn grandson, Siblings Evelyn Murphy, Gloria Griffin, and Rose Duckett, Numerous Nephews and Nieces, And many step kids and step grandkids that called her Mama Kay and Grandma Kay.
Karen was a very loving, kind, and giving person. She knew no stranger, and could light up a room. She was a devout Christian, served the lord faithfully, and was a member of San Angelo first Assembly of God where she loved to work at the nursery. Karen committed herself to being one of the best grandmothers and mother to her grandchildren, children, and many others who called her mom. She would give anyone the shirt off of her back, and was definitely one of a kind and will be missed dearly.
Visitation will commence at 11:00 am on Friday, August 28, 2020 at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels/North, 1002 N Oakes St., San Angelo, TX. Funeral Service will be at 3:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
Masks will be required as well as social distancing. Seating will be limited.
