It is with a broken heart, shattered spirit and overwhelming sadness the family of Maria Arriaga, of San Angelo, Texas announces her passing on Saturday, April 9, 2022, in Levelland, Texas.
Maria was born on August 5, 1932, in Jourdanton, Texas to Daniel Rodriguez and Manuela Garces Rodriguez. Maria was a "jewel" in her community through her volunteer work with the Foster Grandparent program. Maria remained engaged and active as a Foster Grandparent for many years, sharing her wisdom, convictions, and experience. Maria made and cultivated many new friends while sharing her time and talents mentoring children with exceptional needs and providing one-to-one relationships built on trust and unconditional support that allowed many children to develop into future members of society with unlimited potential.
Maria was also an amazing cook, she was always doing what she could with the gifts God had given her to make her house a home, and to bless the lives of all who knew her. Many individuals were the recipients of her beautifully designed quilts she enjoyed creating.
Maria will be forever loved and forever remembered by her son, Alvin Arriaga, Jr., (Sylvia Arriaga), her daughters, Janie Torres (Benito Torres), Sylvia Hernandez, and Elena Valdez (Moses Valdez).
A memorial celebration of Maria's life and the love her family has for her is planned for Friday, April 15, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels, 1002 North Oakes Street, San Angelo, Texas 76903.
So also, you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you. John 16:22
