Maria L. Garcia, 76, of San Angelo, moved through life with a creativity and brightness that could never be mistaken for anyone else’s. On Thursday, May 21, 2026, her earthly story came to its close, leaving behind memories shaped by creativity, strength, laughter, and love.

Maria found joy in the details that made life feel beautiful, sketching ideas onto paper, painting, coloring, creating crafts by hand, and surrounding herself with the things she loved most: turquoise accents, roses, fairy imagery, beautiful shoes and boots, bright makeup, and the people she held close.

Among those who will feel her absence are her boyfriend, Duane Nelson; her daughters: Sylvia Arambula Bryan (Duke Bryan), Destiny Arambula, Rita Garcia of San Angelo, Texas; her sons, Thomas Basaldu (Arispe-Garcia) and Duvirr Basaldu (Arispe-Garcia) of Fort Worth, Texas; her siblings: Janie Lara and Gloria Arispe of San Angelo, Texas. Also surviving Maria are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Lola. 

Maria now reunites with those who preceded her in death, including her parents, Pedro Arispe and Sophia Arispe and her sister, Odelia Alvarado (Lele) and her brother, Jose Arispe.  

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 04, 2026, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels / North.
