Maria Luisa Castillo Valles, 80, of San Angelo, Texas, went to be at rest with the Lord on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, in Sterling City, Texas. She was surrounded by her family.
Maria was born on September 20, 1943, in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, to Jose and Jesusita Castillo. She loved to dance, laugh, and enjoyed being with family and friends. Maria Luisa was a teacher’s aide in her hometown and in San Angelo, Texas. She moved on to work at Ethicon where she retired after 30 years.
On December 21, 1972, Maria married Paul Valles in San Angelo. They began their journey together and created a loving family. She loved her daughters, Amelia Soto and Belinda Valles, with all of her heart. She loved her grandchildren more than anything, Sienna Soto, Sergio Soto, and Vivienne Vielmann.
Maria was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was also a beautiful daughter, sister, sister-in-law, and friend. She raised her family to be very faithful and led by example. She was a devout Catholic and member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in San Angelo.
Maria Luisa was very humble, generous, caring, patient, and kind. She was always in the kitchen and loved to cook for her family. She was instrumental in raising her grandchildren. She loved to dance with anyone who would dance with her. She always enjoyed spending time with her family. Maria Luisa was known for her beautiful smile and loved to make her family laugh. Once you were her friend, she held on to you tightly. She raised her daughters to be strong like her and instilled in them her dedication to faith and family. Paul and Maria would love to take their daughters to Fort Worth and Austin to visit their families. She cherished time with her immediate family, parents, brothers, and sisters, whom she loved dearly. She spoke to her sisters and about her sisters every day, including her sisters-in-law. She always said they were also her sisters. She greatly loved her nieces, nephews, and friends.
Maria is survived by her husband Paul Valles, daughter and son-in-law Amelia and Mark Soto, and daughter Belinda Valles. She is also survived by her grandchildren Vivienne Vielmann, Sergio Soto, Sienna Soto and her fiancée Christian Urteago.
Maria is also survived by her brother John Castillo and wife Consuelo, and sister Rosa Bautista. Left to cherish her memories are numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Maria is preceded in death by her parents, brother Joe Castillo, sister Josie Casillias and husband Julian, sister Elaine Camarena, sister Bertha Gonzales and husband Eugenio, niece Leticia Castillo Cisneros, and nephew Gene Gonzales.
The Valles Family would like to thank her caregivers for going above and beyond daily care to not only meet her needs, but to allow her to live with dignity. They loved on her, held her hand, and danced with her. She began her long-term care at Central Texas and Nursing in Ballinger, Texas, and then moved to Sterling County Nursing Home in Sterling City, Texas. The nurses and staff in Sterling City loved Maria and cried with her family when she passed. We also thank the nurses, staff, and doctors at Shannon Hospital, 4th floor, who helped her before she was placed in hospice care. The family extends a special thank you to Hospice of San Angelo who provided such kind sweet care to Maria in her last days, and continuing support to her loved ones. Thank you to our family and friends for showing their love and respect to Maria and immediate family during this time.
