There are few words to express the sorrow of losing Maria Puente Santiago, a longtime seamstress, on Saturday, December 9, 2023, in San Angelo, Texas. Maria was born to Roman Puente and Paulina Esquivel Puente on January 17, 1939, in Ciudad Acuna, Coahuila, Mexico.
Maria was well known throughout the community, having spent years as a seamstress for Gabriel’s in the Village Shopping Center, and was responsible for constructing, deconstructing, articles of clothing according to the customers preferences, specifications to fit the customer’s desire and body structure. She would often share with her family that she took great pride in her work to ensure that her customers were happy with their final product.
Maria was at her happiest when she was able to care for and enjoy her great grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered for her passion for the best fruit in the world, watermelon, in any shape or in any form.
Maria will be fondly remembered by her son, Raul Samaniego, Jr., her grandchildren, Erica Samaniego (Adrian Cantu), Meladie Mungia (Nathan Mungia), Raul Samaniego, III (Danielle Samaniego), and lovingly remembered by her brothers, Florentino Puente (Sabina Puente), Candelario Puente, and her sisters, Francisca Hernandez, Beatrice Hernandez (Jesus Hernandez) and Elodia Lopez (Jose Lopez).
