Maricela “Maye” Martínez Morales, age 57, was a beautiful mother, a wonderful sister, a loving friend and an amazing aunt. She passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, in San Angelo, Texas, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on March 20, 1968, in Acuña, México, to Estela Delia Morales Penilla and José Álvaro Martínez Lara. The youngest of seven siblings, Maye grew up alongside her sisters Alma Nely, Lely Delia, Elizabeth, and Claudia Estela and Maria, her brothers Gerardo and Álvaro—her older brother who recently preceded her into God’s Kingdom.
She was the proud and devoted mother of two children, Alondra Ramos and Jesús Osvaldo Ramos, whom she loves deeply. Maye was a great example of God’s Love. Her favorite Bible verse was 2 Timothy 4:7-8 which says “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved His appearing.".
She dedicated her life to teaching and nurturing others. Maye worked as an English teacher in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, where she made a lasting impact on the lives of many children. Her passion for food and bringing people together were some of the best memories, teaching others how to make homemade tortillas and her famous salsa, while sharing laughter and love. She worked later in hospitality services and was a caring servant of others. She had a profound ability to connect with people, always making others feel seen, heard, and valued. Maye was a guiding light, always ready to support anyone in need. Her heart overflowed with compassion, constantly putting others first and offering unconditional love.
Smart, strong, brave and endlessly caring she taught us how to keep going no matter what, and to never be afraid of starting over. Her presence was a gift from God, and her memory will remain a source of strength and inspiration.
We find comfort in knowing that she is now free of suffering and reunited with her beloved mother, father, and siblings. Though she is no longer with us in person, her love and spirit live on in all of us.
Service will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 5:00 p. m. at Freedom Fellowship, 342 South Chadbourne Street, San Angelo, Texas, 76903.
