Mary Frances Ferguson Wiedenhofer Obituary

Mary Frances “Toolie” Ferguson Wiedenhofer, age 80, of San Angelo, Texas, made her transition on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at Shannon Medical Center of San Angelo.

Toolie was born on November 4, 1942 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the daughter of Grady and Zoulena Ferguson.  She had older brother, John Michael Ferguson.  Toolie grew up in New Mexico, Colorado and Missouri before settling in Texas.

Toolie was hard working, often working the night shift and sometimes holding a day job, too.  For 32 years she was employed as a Medical Lab Technician at San Angelo Community Medical Center until her retirement in 2018.

Toolie loved to laugh and her laughter was contagious.  She was a devoted friend, quick witted, outspoken, compassionate, generous and loved to tell stories over a good meal.  She was a long- time member of the Unity Church of San Angelo, serving in numerous roles to include Prayer Chaplain, Sunday School Teacher, Communion Server, Library and Bookstore Team, and over the years she served as Board President, Vice President and Board Member at Large.

Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family.   Her home is as cozy and loving as she was, filled with things she collected like books and angels, and also numerous pictures of her children, their spouses, her grandchildren and their spouses, and her great-grandchildren. Toolie was a lover of animals, especially dogs and most especially Great Danes.

Each was very dear to her.  She is survived by her husband, David Wiedenhofer of San Angelo, Texas, her daughter, Courtney Lynn of Bennington, Nebraska, grandson Allen Harlan and his wife Michelle of Raytown, Missouri, granddaughter Carrie Weaver and husband, Mikhail and their children Faye, Luka and Ronan of Grand Island, Nebraska, daughters Catie Wiedenhofer and Angie Voss of Round Rock, Texas, daughter Gretchen McWhorter, her husband Steve of Copperas Cove, Texas , and their children Abby, Ryan  and David McWhorter and David’s wife Hannah and their children, Mia, Riley, Aurora and Helena McWhorter of Copperas Cove, Texas, and her son Patrick McGahey and wife, Karissa, grandson Collin McGahey; granddaughter Kendall McGahey-Johnson her husband, Grant, and their son Easton all of Burleson, Texas.

The family would like to send special thanks and appreciation to the doctors, nurses, aides and other staff of Shannon Hospital who cared for Toolie. We are grateful for your kindness.

A service to celebrate Toolie’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Unity Church of San Angelo, 5237 South Bryant Blvd., San Angelo, Texas 76904 followed by something Toolie would hope all will attend – a meal and conversation among those who knew and loved her, sure to be filled with laughter and loving memories.
