Maurilio "Ray" Marquez

Maurilio “Ray” Marquez, 76, a longtime resident of Mertzon, was gathered into eternal peace on April 18, 2026, at his countryside home. 

Born on September 17, 1949, in San Angelo to Maurilio and Lus Marquez, Ray was a true friend who was loved by all who knew him. 

He met Eva McCutchen in 2008, and they shared more than 18 happy years together. Ray worked for Levi Strauss & Co. for many years, as well as at Quicksand Golf Course. 

His days were often spent playing golf, fishing, and, of course, dancing to Tejano and Country music. He loved watching sports, but most of all, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play and proudly supporting them at their games. His most cherished moments were those spent with family at cookouts and gatherings, always wearing a smile on his face. 

Ray is survived by Eva McCutchen; her children and daughter-in-law; and his children, Jason Marquez and Amanda Marquez. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and one sister. 

Please join the family for visitation at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels / North, 1002 North Oakes Street, San Angelo, Texas 76903, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A rosary will be recited from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
