Olga Marie Hinojosa Munoz

Olga Marie Hinojosa Muñoz, 86, of San Angelo, Texas was born on August 02, 1939, in Mertzon, Texas to Encarnacion and Isabela Holguin Hinojosa. She was the oldest of six children and grew up in Mertzon, Texas where she attended Mertzon ISD and graduated in 1959.

She married John M. Muñoz on January 30, 1965, in Mertzon, Texas. They were married for forty-two years and had three sons, Jayme, Daniel, and Adrian Muñoz.

Surrounded by faith, Olga went to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

Olga was very involved in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church as a Guadalupana and taught RCIA classes and received an award as a Team Member of the Year in 2000.  She was steadfast in her love for her husband, who served as a deacon for several years at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in San Angelo, Texas.  They were always together, their love and faith in God was an inspiration to many. Their lifelong togetherness and their love and faith to God left an inspiring mark on the hearts of many.

As a homemaker for most of her life, she took care of nieces, nephews, her granddaughters and her neighbor’s children, whenever she was able to. Anything that came out of Olga’s kitchen was homemade and was bound to be good whether tortillas, tea, or words of advice.

The best moments of Olga’s life were always spent laughing with family and friends, memories that will be cherished forever.

Preceding Olga in death were her parents, Encarnacion and Isabela Holguin Hinojosa; her loving husband, John and siblings, Alfredo Hinojosa, Bertha Moñtez, and daughter-in-law Senia Muñoz.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are three sons: Jayme Muñoz of Pflugerville, Texas; Daniel Muñoz of San Antonio, Texas; Adrian Muñoz of Colorado, City, Texas; her siblings: Gustavo Hinojosa of San Angelo, Texas, Linda Valencia of Mertzon, Texas, Raynaldo Hinojosa and wife Elodia of Mertzon, Texas; four granddaughters: Katelynn Rae Beltran & husband Juan of Abilene, Texas, Sarah Kathleen Ferchland, and husband Matt of Norman, Oklahoma, Allison Grace Muñoz of Plummer, Idaho, Rachel Pauline Muñoz of Boise, Idaho; one grandson: Gaige Carlson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 6 great-granddaughters: Emily Elizabeth Ferchland, Olivia Ilse Ferchland, Kelly Joanne Ferchland, Mila Rae Holt, Selena Marie Holt, Lakota Kathleen Holt; and a special great-nephew Alfredo Muñoz, Jr. of San Angelo, Texas and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to remember her.

The Muñoz family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all those who are supporting them during this time.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 01, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels / North,1002 North Oakes Street, San Angelo, Texas. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 01, 2026, by Deacon Jesse Martinez, at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels / North.  

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 02, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Family and friends are invited to gather in prayer as we celebrate the gift of her life and commend her to God's eternal care. The Rite of Committal will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in San Angelo, Texas.

The Muñoz family has entrusted the care and arrangements of their mother, grandmother, sister and aunt to Gutierrez Funeral Chapels / North.
