Orelia Saldivar, our beloved Mom, is with the angels now. She is free and soaring to those loved ones before us. How blessed we were to have had such an amazing and loving Mom. Orelia passed from this life and entered the presence of her Lord, on Saturday, March 29, 2025, in San Angelo, Texas. Orelia was the beloved daughter of Natividad and Concepcion Flores and was born on October 23, 1941, in Conroe, Texas.
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her children, Amelia Esquivel, Sylvia Saldivar, Ubaldo Saldivar, Jr., David Saldivar, Linda Martinez and Sandra Harding, her brother, Juan Flores. Orelia is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 64 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren.
Orelia was predeceased by her husband, Ubaldo Saldivar, Sr., her daughters, Esmeralda “Nana” Saldana and Selma Saldivar. Her grandchildren, Rudy Ramos Jr., Latisha Rojas and her siblings, Jose Flores, Arturo Flores, Lupe Ramirez and Julia Barrera, as well as her parents.
While we know that Mom is at peace and that her struggles are at an end, there is pain and sadness, but even though she is gone, Mom has left the legacy of her love and perseverance. The ways she touched our lives will remain. One of the most important things in Mom’s life was her family, and her role as a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. This is where she drew her strength and what she enjoyed most, her love and caring for her family, remained her focus through many obstacles and hardships.
Orelia was a Catholic, who cherished her faith. This statement testifies to that fact, daily prayers, countless Rosaries, an abiding love of the celebration of the Eucharist, serving as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and lifting her voice in singing praises and hymns to her Lord. Orelia was employed at Ethicon, Inc. for many years. Orelia and her husband, Ubaldo enjoyed many days at their ranch, she would wake up early, if not earlier than her husband and was not afraid to get her hands dirty and work long hours. There is so much to be said for ranching beyond what words can describe. Yes, she would say, you work all the time, but what many did not understand is that she enjoyed this work. Orelia marveled at seeing new life come and go with all the seasons and not many people can experience true peace in an unpopulated landscape
