Pat “Patty” Parish, 73, was able to shed her earthly trials, Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, at Shannon Hospital, where she’d been admitted several weeks before. Mrs. Parish had been in failing health for a number of years, but she never lost her sweet spirit, loving demeanor, and appreciation of life or adventure.
Gutierrez Funeral Chapels is in charge of final arrangements. No services are planned at this time. Per her request, Mrs. Parish’s remains have been donated to the College of Medicine at Texas Tech University.
She was born March 17, 1949, in Auburn, (Nemaha County) Nebraska, the daughter of Betty June Brown Griffiths and Lloyd Wallace Griffiths.
Growing up, the family moved frequently, living in Nebraska, California, Colorado, and Texas – and Pat learned the value of making wherever she was, home. She was tight-lipped about her troubles, but generous with her smile and friendly advice. She helped people anyway she could, every way she had the opportunity.
She learned early to work hard and do well. She was a farm-hand, could drive a truck, load hay, but her vocation was a nurse, and after 23 years in that field, she became a massage therapist. “My true calling,” she would say.
As a young woman, she took art lessons, and discovered not only a natural talent, but a way to express her love of all things beautiful. Even as her hands began to shake, and arthritis cramped her fingers, she refused to give away her paintbrushes, and dreamed one day of painting again.
Mrs. Parish is survived by her son, Ronnie Bogie and his wife, Sharon, of Lubbock; a daughter, Susan Bounds, of San Angelo; two granddaughters, Courtney Torres and Sierra Bounds and her friend Brandon Rivera, all of San Angelo; two great-grandchildren, both of San Angelo; and two brothers, Gene Griffiths of Wichita, Kansas, and Roger Werner and his wife Rhonda of Lincoln, Nebraska.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Parish, and one brother, Richard Werner.
