Raymond "Ray" Perez Obituary

Raymond (Ray) Perez, 59, of San Angelo, Texas, passed peacefully on February 21, 2022, at his residence.   Ray was born on June 2, 1962, in Bronx, New York to Emilio Perez-Jimenez and Mercedes Perez.

He graduated from San Angelo Lake View High School, San Angelo, Texas in 1981.  Soon after graduation, he joined the United States Army, where he served for several years as a tank engineer.  Ray earned his bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Colorado University.  Ray worked and resided in Colorado, Pennsylvania, New York City, Florida and returned to Texas.  He ended his career in criminal justice with Tom Green County as a Juvenile Probation officer.

Ray enjoyed sports, as a military brat and living in England, he learned and played the sport of soccer.  Due to his 6'0" stature, Ray was an excellent goalie and protected the goal from head to toe!  He also enjoyed basketball, football, fishing and his passion was cycling.  He would ride his bicycle in the Texas heat for miles.  When July came, nobody could take him away from watching his "Tour de France".

Ray was a proud "Nuyorican" and loved his salsa music.

Ray is preceded in death by his grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Ray will be forever loved and forever remembered by his parents, father, Emilio Perez-Jimenez and mother, Mercedes Perez.  He will be remembered also by his daughter, Yvette Munoz of Colorado, a son, Donovon Perez of New York City.  He will be fondly remembered by his sister, Jo Ann Perez-Luna and brother-in-law and best friend Andy Luna of Austin, and his nephew, Vincent Tobias of Austin, niece, Marlandy Luna (Gaylon) of Christoval and grand-daughter, Twyla Thomas of Colorado.  Ray will be remembered by his aunts and many adored cousins.

"Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again" We know you were tired of the fight .... Rest now God Speed Brother.

Ray's family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to the amazing nurses and staff of Hospice of San Angelo as well as to the Visiting Angels of San Angelo.
