Robert Powell Obituary

If you wanted to find Robert D. Powell, you wouldn't have looked inside four walls if he could help it. His places of choice was where the water was still, the woods were quiet, or beneath a sky that reminded him of the God he faithfully served.

Robert Don Powell’s story began on April 27, 1979, in San Angelo, Texas. He was born to Christopher and Donna Powell.

Whether hunting, casting a line into still waters, or paddling quiet waters in his kayak, he found God's presence in the outdoors. Nature was more than a favorite pastime; it was where he found peace, perspective, and a renewed appreciation for the Creator he faithfully served.

Robert’s relationship with Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life. A devoted follower of Christ, he faithfully served as a youth leader, encouraged countless men through online ministry, and found a church home at The Four56 Church. His faith was never confined to Sunday mornings, it was reflected in the compassion he extended, the encouragement he offered, and the steadfast love he shared with those around him. Those who witnessed the love he had for his wife saw a reflection of the Christ-centered life he sought to live each day.

He possessed a wit that could brighten even ordinary moments. He loved trivia, collected random facts, and always seemed to have an interesting story or unexpected answer to share. Those who knew him best would smile in agreement that he could be wonderfully bull-headed at times, yet it was that same determination that made him unwavering in his convictions, fiercely loyal to the people he loved, and dependable when it mattered most.

Above all else, he will be remembered as a loving husband, a dedicated father, a faithful friend, and a kind-hearted man whose life was defined by the lives he touched. His legacy is one of unwavering faith, enduring love, quiet strength, and the lasting reminder that a life rooted in Christ leaves an eternal imprint on the hearts of others.

Those who knew Robert best also knew where his heart was found, with his family, who now carry his memory with gratitude, love, and countless treasured moments: his loving wife, Hellen Lynn Powell; his beloved son, Caleb Powell and daughter, Sarah Powell; his loving parents, Christopher and Donna Powell; his loving sister, Brandie Brown.

Robert’s favorite waters will continue to ripple. The woods will welcome another sunrise, quietly reminding those who loved him that the things he cherished most: Faith, family, laughter, and God's creation never belonged to a single lifetime. They endure in every life he encouraged, every lesson he shared, and every heart he pointed toward Christ.
