Roberta Burney passed from this life and entered into the presence of her Lord on Saturday, December 2, 2023. She was born on December 19, 1944, to Marion Eddie Martin and Ethel Harvin Martin.
Although Roberta spent a large portion of her workday on her feet as a food service employee with the San Angelo Independent School District, she would always be ready to watch her favorite football team, the Houston Texans, and cheer them on. She would make an exception however to the Dallas Cowboys as her daughter and family were their supporters.
As a employee of the school district, Roberta would share that her job was very rewarding in that she was always able to ensure that students received nutritious and tasty meals and be well-nourished and ready to learn. She loved the look of appreciation she got from a child when they were served their favorite food item.
While some retirees spend their time playing cards or indulging in some hobby, Roberta spent her time attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and shouting words of encouragement from the sidelines.
Roberta was predeceased by her son, Kenneth Burney. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Debby Hill and husband David Hill, her son, Eddie Burney and wife, Marta Burney. Roberta will be fondly remembered by her brother, Edward Martin and her sister, Elizabeth Tennis.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, commencing at 10:30 a.m. at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels, 1002 North Oakes, San Angelo, Texas, with a celebration of Roberta’s life at 1:30 p.m. and interment to follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens, 4959 F.M. Hwy. 1223, San Angelo, Texas.
