The time we were given with Rodrigo M. Gómez, though far too brief, came to a peaceful close on May 17, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Rodrigo found happiness in the simple things that brought people together, barbecue on the grill, a fishing line cast into the water, music playing in the background, and dancing. He loved to joke, make others laugh, and keep those around him smiling. But above all else, his greatest joy was time spent with his grandchildren, whose laughter and presence brought him endless pride and happiness.
Mr. Gómez was born in Santa Brígida Coahuila, México on February 18, 1966. He is survived by his mother, Ascension Mireles Gómez and his loving children: Brenda Nieto (Juan Nieto) of Houston, Texas, Rodrigo Gomez Jr. (Ashley Thompson) of San Angelo, Texas, Daisy L. Hernandez (Manuel Ray Hernandez) of San Angelo, Texas; Grandchildren: Adrian Nieto, Adalynn Gómez, Sophia Nieto, Elliana Hernandez, Levi Ray Hernandez, and Ariyah Gómez. He is also survived by his siblings: Yolanda Gómez (Guadalupe Gomez), Ana Gómez, Jesús Gómez, and Juan Carlos Gómez (Raquel Gómez) all from Acuña Coahuila, México. Additional survivors include Irma Niño (Antonio Niño) Denton, Texas, Aracely Gómez, Elizabeth Contreras (Roy Contreras) Reyna Fernandez (Victor Fernández) Norma Nieto (Alfredo Nieto) all of San Angelo, Texas and 26 nieces and nephews and many cousins. Also surviving are his uncles and aunts: Jose Gomez of San Angelo, Texas, Consuelo Zamora, Benito Gomez both from Acuña Coahuila, México.
Rodrigo was preceded in death by his father, Raymundo Hernandez Gómez.
His life was guided by quiet kindness and an appreciation for the moments that often matter most, family gathered close and creating lasting memories. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the ICU nurses at Shannon Medical Center and the hospice team at Hospice of San Angelo for the compassionate care, comfort, and support they provided during a difficult time.
The care of Mr. Rodrigo Mireles Gómez has been entrusted to Gutierrez Funeral Chapels.
