Samuel Ruiz Obituary

Samuel Rodriguez Ruiz, a respected carpenter, musician and beloved husband of Rosario Grimaldo Ruiz, and son of Ruth Chavez, entered into God’s Kingdom, on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, in San Angelo, Texas

Born on December 28, 1955, in San Angelo, Texas, to Martin Ruiz and Ruth Rodriguez Chavez, Samuel’s life was marked by innovation, mentorship, and unwavering dedication to his family and to the Lord.

Samuel, through the ups and downs of life demonstrated an indomitable spirit, turning challenges into opportunities for growth, as he ventured into many trades, welding, mechanical and electrical engineering.  There was nothing he could not fix or build.

In addition to being a beloved husband and father, Samuel had an unwavering commitment to parenthood, and his memory will forever be cherished by his children, Samuel Ruiz, Jr., Daniel Hermosillo, Geronimo Ruiz, Bobby Ray Cardenas, Joe Louis Ruiz, David Ruiz, Belinda Mendoza, Juliana Bliss, and Rita Chavarria.  Samuel was also blessed with 39 grandchildren.

Samuel will be lovingly remembered by his brothers, Salvador Chavez, Joe Chavez, Jr., Jorge Chavez, Edward Chavez, Mike Chavez, Leo Chavez, Reynaldo Ruiz, Martin Ruiz, Jr., Robert Ruiz, Severo Ruiz and his sisters, Ruth Orozco, Sylvia Chavez, Isabel Chavez, Josefina Vargas, Dolly Barrientos, Eloisa Chavez, Nelly Hernandez, Angie Chavez, Angelica Ruiz, Lucy Bustamante, and Sylvia Ortiz.

Samuel was predeceased by his father Martin Ruiz, brothers, Noe Ruiz, Johnny Chavez, Jesse Chavez, sister, Leticia Ruiz, his grandparents, Alfonso Rodriguez and Benina Rodriguez.

Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him, Samuel was a loyal servant to God, first and foremost. He loved the church and loved sharing the love and warmth of our savior, Jesus Christ, with as many people as possible as he preached and taught the Gospel.

Samuel was also a musician who could play many instruments, accordion, bass guitar and acoustic guitar as well as a vocalist in many genres and styles.  

Salvador Chavez, Joe Chavez, Jr., Jorge Chavez, Edward Chavez, Mike Chavez, and Leo Chavez will serve as pallbearers escorting Samuel to his final resting place.

Now that Samuel has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of his physical life on Earth, it’s the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for Samuel..
