Shelly Marie Tavares

Shelly Tavares, 56, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on March 6th, 2025. Shelly was born on March 27, 1968. in River Falls, WI., to James and Donna (Lund) Johnson. 

Shelly was a beloved restaurant manager. She was an animal lover who found joy in the company of her cat Robin. Her deep connection to animals reflected her compassionate and caring nature for the many people she surrounded herself with. Her fierce and determined attitude will be missed by many. 

Shelly is survived by her three children, Dezerae Kazarian of Michigan, David Kazarian & wife Allison of Massachusetts, and Nathan Tavares of Minnesota. Shelly is survived by her three siblings Steven Johnson of Michigan, Chad Johnson & wife Jenny of Florida, and Shantel Haasnoot and husband Curt of Wisconsin. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, family, and countless friends whose lives were better for having known her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donna & Elvis Kobs and father James Johnson.

A celebration of life will be held at a date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to an animal rescue of your choosing in Shelly’s honor,  Arrangements have been entrusted to Gutierrez Funeral Chapels, 1002 North Oakes Street, San Angelo, Texas.
