Trinedad Zapata Obituary

Trinedad (TR) Rios Zapata, 85, of San Angelo went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 27, 2020. Trinedad was born May 27, 1934 in San Angelo, Texas to Leandro and Ysabel Rios Zapata.Trinedad is survived by the mother of his children, Isabel Salazar, and their five children and spouses; Janie and Dan Wilson, Trine and Sheri Zapata, Liza and Mark Slosson, Albert Zapata and Sylvia Flores and Eric and Amanda Zapata.Trinedad had five Grandsons Sean, Brandon, Jeremy, Zachary and Seth. Four Great grandchildren. Trinedad is also survived by his brother Cali Zapata and wife Rosemary his sister Anita Welborn and husband Bill.

Trinedad served in the United States Navy from September 1955 through September 1959 with an Honorable discharge.After retirement from ConAgra Foods, TR enjoyed fishing, golfing and especially loved watching his favorite golfer, “Tiger Woods”. Trinedad attended numerous Dallas Cowboys football games, even traveling to Mexico City to watch “America’s” team.Trinedad and Eric attended three Superbowl’s; 1993 Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA, 1994 Georgia Dome in Atlanta, GA and 1996 Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, AZ. In October 2018 he attended his final Cowboy game at Texas Stadium. One of Trinedad’s favorite pastimes was having coffee with his buddies and traveling. He visited Ireland, attended a family wedding and was featured in the local newspaper of Limerick City, Ireland. One of his favorite things to do was work with Ray Zapata. Ray provided Trinedad an avenue to get out, meet people and socialize. To Ray we are most grateful for always checking on dad and being a sounding board to our family. 

The family wish to thank the staff of Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez. We were blessed to have nurse Christine in DAD’s life, who was nurturing, attentive and so caring to our FATHER. 

Interment will be on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 11:00 am at Calvary Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Gutierrez Funeral Chapels/North.
